To be on Google Plus you need a Google Profile. Your Google Profile prompts you to link all of your social profiles so Google knows your social finger print and can highlight material in search results that your associates have socially shared or liked.

In reply to Adam. I’m still new to G+ but so far I am really enjoying it! I think it will play an increasingly important role for web publishers in the near future, so hopefully I can stick with it. Oh, and with so much Penguin panic I’d forgotten to re-include the social buttons with the new site design – and the plugin you recommended is a great way to get it done FAST. SEO Software does not work. Automated link building techniques have always been a bad idea, and now after Penguin it is more likely than ever to get you in to big trouble. Further, you shouldn’t be trying to get links for your bikini blog from a webmaster blog, and if you want English traffic you’re going to need some proper English in your comments & content!

I go days without using Google+, then I will be on it for spurts at a time. I most certainly will be interesting to see how it fares a year from now.

FYI John, you should use the Social Share plugin ..http://www.searchtechword.com/2011/06/wordpress-plugin-add-twitter-facebook-google-plus-one-share/ to make sharing your articles so much easier.
