As we look over this list of 8 drawbacks to working in a cubicle, one question immediately comes to mind:
How was it possible to stop at just eight?
We’re certain you and your pals in the neighboring cubicles could easily double the length of the list, except for the fact that to do so you could be risking immediate termination. It might be a good idea to keep this on the Q.T.
For example, we won’t say anything about odors wafting over the cubicle farm, like from the guy two doors away who mistakenly thinks a bottle of Axe body spray will get the attention of the new receptionist…in a good way.
No, we think it’s time to look at the standard office cubicle in a positive light. It is, after all, basically a blank canvas. You can do with it as you like—within certain common sense boundaries, of course. For instance, don’t try painting your walls.
Be creative. Find ways to subtlety change your floor plan. Bring in a few plants and learn to properly care for them. Keep your family photos fresh.
Once you’re happy with your space you’ll find it easier to maintain a positive attitude throughout your entire work day. And if there’s anything that’s been repeatedly proven at work, it’s that good attitudes tend to be infectious.
